John Twyford

John is a senior project management practitioner with more than 40 years in industry. His experience includes a building construction and civil engineering background underpinned by contract and project management/director roles with a Tier 1 contractor. He has been a client-side project director, general manager and technical director since 2014.

His experience spans Government, Commercial, Education, Infrastructure, Hospitality, Research, Sport and Residential sectors – executed via a wide range of contracting models. He has delivered and participated in the design and delivery of several private and government projects for departments and agencies/organisations including: Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, Melbourne Cricket Club Trust, Department of Defence, Reserve Bank of Australia, CSIRO, Australian Federal Police, Department of Human Services, Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, Major Projects Victoria, Grocon Developments, University of Melbourne and Leadership Victoria (on behalf of the Government of Timor Leste).

John is recognised as an industry leader with a strong reputation for achieving high quality results. He demonstrated through his design leadership, procurement management, value management facilitation and eventual delivery of the $80m National Banknote Site project for the Reserve Bank of Australia. The team that he led, won the AIPM Project of the Year Award Construction/Engineering – Victoria in 2017, for this project.

John is an accomplished leader in design management, project directorship, procurement, contract administration and technical project management including constructability and project management planning. This is evidenced by the many Defence and government projects that he has led and private sector projects in which he has been involved, such as the $470m MCG Northern Stand Redevelopment between 2002 and 2005.
