Victorian Emergency Management Training Centre

This new multi-million dollar training facility in Melbourne's north has become the benchmark for emergency services training across Australia.

The VEMTC, a $109 million specialised emergency services learning and training facility will be used by all Victorian emergency services agencies and will provide the best possible training opportunities for both volunteer and career emergency services personnel.

Andrew McKinley was the project director and superintendent, representing Major Projects Victoria, under this managing contract model of delivery.

Andrew took the project from post-contract award through to practical completion. The project required high levels of coordination with specialist suppliers of pyrotechnic equipment and props used to simulate emergency situations.

The project has been a success for the client teams and the facility is being used to include emergency services providers other than the metropolitan fire brigade.
