The $6.7B West Gate Tunnel Project is a city-shaping project that will deliver a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge, provide quicker and safer journeys, and remove thousands of trucks off residential streets.
The project involves widening of the West Gate Freeway, a tunnel under residential Yarraville from the West Gate Freeway to the Maribrynong River, a new river crossing, new connections to the Port of Melbourne, an elevated road along the Footscray Rd corridor, new connections to CBD north and state-of-the-art freeway management system technology. The Level Crossing Removal Authority’s (LXRA) $1.6 billion Caulfield to Dandenong Project removes nine level crossings through the construction of a sky-rail system transforming Melbourne’s busiest rail corridor into public open space.
Ontoit representatives were responsible for: procurement and commercial leadership. Full spectrum of transaction management services, including preparation of tender documents, evaluation leadership, and managing interface to commercial, technical, approvals and stakeholder teams.
Ontoit representatives were also responsible for leadership of Systems Engineering and Assurance Management for the non-owner participants of the Alliance. SkyBus is one of the world’s most frequent airport bus transfer services, currently moving around 3.4 million people a year from Melbourne Airport into the city.
Ontoit was the project manager responsible for a $1.5-million upgrade of the SkyBus terminal and ticketing outlets within Melbourne’s central Southern Cross Station. Project complexities included carrying out works in a live operating environment and design coordination issues with the existing maintenance provider (Honeywell), key stakeholders (including Public Transport Victoria and V/Line) and other bus operators.
After successfully meeting their obligations within the MR3 Train Franchise, Metro Trains Melbourne was invited to tender for a seven-year railway and infrastructure operating extension, also referred to as MR4.
Ontoit’s representatives were architects of the development of the Asset Management discipline for the MR4 Franchise Project. Utilising the ISO55000 certified Asset Management System that they’d finessed over 5 years, Ontoit’s representatives provided the Government with a compelling bid submission. The award of the MR4 Franchise to MTM was the crowning achievement of outstanding implementation of the first ISO55000 certified AMS for a transport organisation in Australia.
The Port of Melbourne is Australia’s largest container port and is critical to Victoria’s continued economic development.
With a growth rate of around six per cent a year, the port is almost at capacity. Port of Melbourne Corporation is working with ontoit to deliver a new and refurbished wharf, roads, services, a container terminal, a post-delivery inspection area for cars and leaseholds for operators. As project managers, our procurement strategy took the project to market a year ahead of schedule and works are on track for a 2018 completion date, securing the port’s status as the main container freight hub in Australia for years to come.
Each year, PTV prioritises public transport infrastructure projects which must be submitted to the Department of Treasury and Finance in the form of a business case. Ontoit have recently worked as a key partner for PTV in delivering submissions.
Ontoit developed solutions, funding scenarios and recommendations, as part of the development of critical 2017/2018 PTV business cases worth in excess of $200+ million. The submissions covered major DDA accessibility improvements for train and tram networks within metropolitan Victoria; access improvement for regional train stations; train station car park installations or upgrades; and metropolitan station interface improvements.
The Port of Hastings is expected to be a world-class, competitive and sustainable port with a minimum capacity of nine million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) by 2060.
Ontoit was instrumental in enabling the growth of the port and facilitating its future success by setting up a Project Management Office (PMO) for delivery of the Port of Hastings Development Authority’s capacity expansion program. The PMO Lead, Manager and Integration Lead were responsible for developing a project management manual and simple plans and tools for use by the project team.
